In our stage two submission for the competition we proposed a sustainable, mixed use redevelopment of the South West corner of the city centre.
The buildings are designed to be adaptable over time and support a mix of retail, commercial, residential and community uses. The buildings feature strip shopping at street level to offer a vibrant street life with a mix of shops and cafes. Facing outwards, the buildings offer diverse facades scaled to reinforce the urban street scape. Facing inwards, the buildings overlook an urban wetland that harvests storm water, supports native bird life and offers a new balance between ecology and urbanity.
